Science Prism Team

Science Prism is shaped by a collective of neuroscientists committed to advancing both scientific understanding and meaningful public engagement.

Dr Kaushik P. Sharma and Dr Kanchan Bisht, based in the Department of Neurology at the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun, bring over a decade of international research experience across leading institutions in India (National Brain Research Centre), Europe (ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich), Canada (Université Laval), and the United States (University of Virginia and Purdue University). Their work centres on translational neuroscience, with a focus on neuroinflammation, glial biology, and the molecular mechanisms underlying neurological disorders, alongside efforts to bridge experimental research with clinical relevance. In addition to their scientific contributions, they have played key roles in building research programmes, securing competitive funding, and developing interdisciplinary collaborations. Through Science Prism, they seek to bridge scientific rigour with clarity and accessibility, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper engagement with science among students, researchers, and the wider community.

Dr Manju Tewari, Assistant Professor at Kumaun University, is a neuroscientist specialising in neuron–glial interactions, microglial biology, and neuroinflammation. Trained at the National Brain Research Centre (India) and with postdoctoral research experience at Saint Louis University (USA), her work integrates cellular and molecular neuroscience with a strong commitment to mentorship and scientific development in Uttarakhand.

Dr Shreesh Raj Sammi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Translational Neuroscience at Michigan State University (USA), contributes expertise in neurotoxicology and neurodegenerative disorders. His research focuses on understanding how environmental factors influence brain health, alongside a sustained commitment to training young researchers and promoting accessible science communication.

Together, the team brings complementary strengths across translational neuroscience, cellular biology, and environmental neuroscience, united by a shared vision: to make science intellectually rigorous, widely accessible, and deeply relevant to society.
