Brain Connect 2025: Building the Future of Neuroscience in Uttarakhand
Brain Connect 2025, held from March 19–21, marked a landmark initiative driven by our vision to bridge basic neuroscience research with clinical practice while laying the foundation for a robust neuroscience education and research ecosystem in Uttarakhand. As the first initiative of its kind in the state, the symposium brought together clinicians, researchers, and students, was graciously supported by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) and the Indian Academy of Neurology (IAN), and was accredited with 12 CME credit hours by the Uttarakhand Medical Council (UKMC), emerging as a resounding success and a defining step toward transforming neuroscience in the region.

ANRF–ARG Proposal Success: The successful selection of our proposal under the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) – Advanced Research Grant (ARG) scheme marks a major milestone in advancing translational neuroscience and establishing a strong, high-end neuroscience research ecosystem in our lab.

We welcome Dr. Induja Mishra, Ms. Swarna Radhakrishnan, and Mr. Vinayak Kotiyal to the lab as part of our DST–NCSTC (Department of Science & Technology – National Council for Science and Technology Communication) project team, where they will lead community engagement and science communication efforts to advance awareness among women on cancer, mental health, and preventive practices.

World Stroke Day Awareness Initiative: On World Stroke Day, we organised an expert session on the growing stroke burden in India, bringing together clinicians and healthcare professionals to strengthen awareness on prevention, early recognition, and timely intervention.

Our lab secures its first major extramural grant from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), to advance rural women’s health through science-driven outreach, marking a defining step in taking science beyond the confines of the laboratory and into the lives of people who need it most, a direction very different from our earlier work that was largely restricted to the lab.
